When you start planning your wedding you may start to realize how overwhelming it all can be. From the Venue to the Florist and all that is in between. One of the first things to usually be decided upon is the date of which you choose to get married. When choosing your date the best practice is to find your number one Vendor that you wouldn’t want to have your wedding without. For this post I will be talking about the Georgetown Wedding Venue named ‘The Venue at Evans Orchard.’
In most cases it’s the Wedding Venue that is chosen first based off their desired location and date. You can choose other vendors first though such as your photographer! Let’s say you decide to go with your Venue first. Where do you want the location to be? What type of style are you looking for? Are you wanting an indoor or outdoor venue or maybe you want a mix of both? Outdoor locations offer lots of beautiful natural light but be mindful of the weather for your wedding venue. If you decide to go indoor then do you want something with classic architecture like an old time building or are you looking for more of a barn venue ?
If you chose a wedding venue featuring a barn with lots of outdoor space that allows for natural lighting and access to beautiful sunset portraits, and are looking in Georgetown Kentucky, then allow me to introduce you to ‘The Venue at Evans Orchard’.
This wedding venue offers a variety of land featuring the main barn, silo, outdoor ceremony location, and cabin. The Main Barn offers a getting ready room for the bride, big reception area, outdoor patio area for cocktail hour, and back barn door access to the ceremony location which allows you and your wedding party to stay hidden until time to walk down the aisle. The silo offers a room for the groom and his groomsmen to hang out in and get ready. It has only one small window at the door making it easy to keep eyes hidden before the ceremony or if there will be any first looks on location.
On Chris and Audrey’s Wedding day, we were blessed with warm and sunny weather. The flat lays were done right outside the barn using one of the matts I bring specifically for detail shots. For the dress shot I hung that up by where the ceremony would be held giving beautiful views of both the back and front of the dress. Chris was not arriving until a little later in the day so one of the requests Audrey had made was for a champagne shot with her girls in their PJs so we were able to get that shot utilizing the shade offered by the silo during a bright part of the day.
Once mom helped Audrey get buttoned up into the dress she requested a first look with her dad as well as a first look with her girls. While we were doing the first looks and bride solo shots the Chris was with his groomsmen in the Silo hanging out relaxing waiting for his turn. Since there is the limited window at the silo it made it easy to get all the shots we needed without Audrey and Chris running into each other! Once all the bride portraits were done we moved towards the groom and his groomsmen shots. They turned out so good! Chris had so much fun striking poses and living it up for the camera!
Next came the vows which both bride and groom elected to read separately before the ceremony. During the Ceremony I work the middle of the aisle so I can get both the groom’s reaction as well as the brides walking down the aisle. During this time I have my second photographer working the sides of the church pews to get those additional angles that can add some variety to your final gallery.
After the Ceremony concluded we proceeded to our Family Formals and Full Bridal Party portraits. This was such a fun group who really knew how to get loud and have a good time! Since Chris and Audrey elected not to have a seating chart they requested that we do the Bridal Party first so they could find seats at the Reception before allowing everybody else to filter in. Next up…Husband and Wife Portraits!
Another request from Audrey and Chris was that they finish the portraits quickly as they were more interested in partying it up with their guests! The venue offers some cute little trees that provide some shaded spots against the harsh light during daylight hours. If the trees are not what you are looking for then the front of the barn or even the silo are options as well. There is also grape vines that you can take a stroll down that is just a walk away.
The Barn provides three main entrances you can use for your Grand Entrances and set your catering towards another. With lots of light filtering in with the doors open, you can get great shots of your first dances and any mingling guests outside on the patio. There is also tons of space to allow for a dance floor and special exit!
Most excited for those golden hour sunset portraits? Look no further! With such wide open spaces, it makes for the perfect location for your sunset bridal portraits! Don’t believe me? Take a look below!
